Enchantments of Madeira with Porto Santo – 5 days / 4 nights

Day 1

Arrival in Funchal > Funchal (Monte > Picos dos Barcelos > Eira do Serrado)

Arrival at Madeira airport, assistance and transportation to the chosen hotel. In the afternoon, locally informed, departure towards the old town and ride on the cable car up to Monte, providing spectacular views over the Funchal. Exterior visit to the Our Lady of Monte Church. Continuation of the tour to Pico dos Barcelos, to admire one of the most beautiful panoramas of the city of Funchal. We head towards the viewpoint of Eira do Serrado, which is situated at an altitude of 1,094 m, where one can contemplate a stunning landscape over the village of Curral das Freiras, which many have considered to be built in the crater of a volcano. Return to the hotel.

Note: In order to meet the day schedule, arrival in Funchal on this day should be by 12:00.

Day 2

Funchal (Câmara De Lobos / Cabo Girão / Ribeira Brava / Ponta Do Sol / Paúl Da Serra /Porto Moniz / São Vicente / Chão Dos Louros / Serra D’água)

Breakfast at the hotel. At an hour to be informed locally, departure towards Câmara de Lobos (fishing village) and Cabo Girão, the highest cliff in Europe. Continuing along the south coast, stop at the village of Ribeira Brava. We head towards Ponta do Sol with a stop at Lugar de Baixo to visit BAM (Madeira Banana Centre), a museum that will guide you through the history of the Banana, one of Madeira’s trademarks. Continue to Paúl da Serra, a plateau situated 1,400 meters above sea level, heading to Porto Moniz. Stop by the sea to admire the natural pools formed by lava remains. We proceed towards São Vicente and stop for lunch (drinks included). In the afternoon, we cross the island north/south on the descent to Funchal, we will also pass by the parish of Serra d’Água. Return to the hotel. Locally informed, departure for dinner in a local restaurant to enjoy the true Madeiran “Espetada” (drinks included) and watch a performance by a folk group of dances and songs from Madeira. Next, a brief stop to admire Funchal at night. Return to the hotel.

Day 3

Funchal / Porto Santo (Barco) / Funchal

At a time to be informed locally, departure for the port of Funchal. Boarding formalities on the ferry “Lobo Marinho” and departure for Porto Santo. Arrival at Porto Santo. Disembarkation and visit to the island passing through the town of Vila Baleira and various viewpoints with fantastic views over the crystal-clear waters and the fine golden sand beach that stretches for 9 km, inviting many sunbathing and swimming opportunities. Lunch (drinks included). Free afternoon with the possibility to enjoy the beach or simply explore the town. At a time to be arranged locally, transportation to the port and departure on the “Lobo Marinho”. Arrival in Funchal and return to the hotel.

Note: The departure for the ferry “Lobo Marinho” is very early, so breakfast will be provided to the customer in a “box”. An exception is made for Hotel do Carmo, which will open for an early breakfast served until 07:00.

Day 4

Funchal (Poiso / Pico Do Areeiro / Ribeiro Frio / Santana / Faial / Porto Da Cruz / Ponta De São Lourenço /Machico)

Breakfast at the hotel. At a time to be informed locally, depart towards Poiso and from there ascend to the second highest mountain on the island, Pico do Areeiro. Next, we descend to Ribeiro Frio, in the heart of the “Laurissilva Forest”. A 45-minute walk along the Levada da Serra do Faial to the Balcões Viewpoint with its stunning landscape over the deep valley. Continuation of the circuit to Santana, where you can see the typical houses of this city. Stop for lunch (drinks included). After lunch and on the return to Funchal, passing through the parishes of Faial and Porto da Cruz. Continuation towards Ponta de São Lourenço, which is the easternmost point of Madeira with its spectacular rock formations in a unique landscape overlooking the sea. Continuation to Machico. Return to the hotel for accommodation.

Day 5

Funchal

Breakfast at the hotel. Free day for shopping or the opportunity to return (at your own expense) to the city center or simply stroll through the old squares or the marina in Funchal. At a time to be informed locally, transfer to the airport from the hotel, for the boarding formalities and the end of our services.
