Day 1 Monday Ben Gurion Airport / Jerusalem

Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Jerusalem.

Overnight in Jerusalem.

Day 2 Tuesday Jerusalem (New City)

Our day begins at the Israel Museum on a hill in Givat Ram where we find the Shrine of the Book housing the priceless Dead Sea Scrolls and the Holyland Model of Jerusalem as it was during the Second Temple period.

Continue to the ancient village of Ein Karem, the place where John the Baptist was born.

Next a powerful visit to Yad Vashem, Israel’s official memorial to the victims of the Holocaust located at the foot of Mount Herzl.

Six miles southwest of Jerusalem we come to Bethlehem*, the birthplace of Jesus where we stop to view Rachel’s Tomb before continuing to the Church of Nativity and Manger’s Square. Return to Jerusalem. B/D

Day 3 Wednesday Jerusalem (Old City) / Bethlehem*

Enter the walled city where you will see the ancient limestone wall known as the Wailing Wall, Western Wall or Kotel**** and see the actual site of the Second Temple, the Temple Mount.

Walk along the Via Dolorosa, the Way of Sorrow passing past the Stations of the Cross on your way to Calvary and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre which houses the traditional site of the crucifixion and resurrection.

Just outside the Old City is Mount Zion with King David’s Tomb and the Room of the Last Supper (Cenacle). Men and women enter separately. To enter one must dress modestly with a head covering. Enjoy the spectacular view of Jerusalem considered holy for each of the three faiths. Visit the Garden of Gethsemane where Judas betrayed Jesus.

Visit Machane Yehuda set between Aggripas and Jaffa Streets is a bustling marketplace with over 250 vendors selling everything from soup to nuts. It is the largest open-air marketplace in Israel. After making your purchases return to your hotel. B/D

Day 4 Thursday Beit She’an / Nazareth / Galilee

Leaving Jerusalem this morning we go back in history as we pass the oldest city in the world, Jericho*, site under Palestinian Authority jurisdiction. The visit is subject to the situation. Travel through the Jordan Valley and the new settlements to Beit She’an historically known as Scythopolis to visit some of the best-preserved ruins in the Middle East.

Continue to Nazareth, the boyhood town of Jesus to see the Church of the Annunciation as well as other Christian sights. Then we are on our way to Safed, the center of Jewish mysticism with its ancient synagogues and Artist Quarter lined with galleries and workshops. B/D

Day 5 Friday Golan Heights / Sea of Galilee

This morning our drive takes us up to the Golan Heights passing Banias, the source of the River Jordan. Along the way pass former Syrian fortifications and Druze Villages. Enjoy a wine country experience with vineyards surrounded by breathtaking views. Become acquainted with the collection of fine and rare wines enjoying a tour, wine tasting and gaining an understanding of the wine production process.

Travel along the shores of the Sea of Galilee to the ancient fishing village of Capernaum to visit the ruins of the ancient synagogue. Visit the Mount of Beatitudes where Jesus delivered the memorable Sermon on the Mount and Tabgha, the traditional site of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fish. Continue driving to Tiberias named after the Roman Emperor situated on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee. There is an opportunity for an optional 45-minute cruise along the tranquil waters of the sea where life has changed little during the past 2000 years (subject to weather conditions). B/D

Day 6 Saturday Akko / Haifa / Caesarea / Tel Aviv

Following breakfast, we drive through the hills of the Galilee westward to Acre (Akko) with its long cultural history for a visit of the old Crusader stronghold and medieval fortifications. On arrival in Haifa ascend Mount Carmel for a panoramic view of the city, the Baha’i Shrine, the Persian Gardens and Haifa Bay. Travel along the Mediterranean Coast to Caesarea, once the Roman capital of the region visiting the Roman Theater and Crusader Fortress known as “the masterpiece of Herod the Great”. End the day with a short tour of Tel Aviv and the ancient port of Jaffa. B/D

Day 7 Sunday At leisure

Free day in Tel Aviv. Perhaps an optional tour to Masada and the Dead Sea (cost not included). B/D

Breakfast and transfer to the airport for departure. Today marks the end of your journey. B

****Men must cover their head while in the prayer area and women must cover their shoulders and wear long pants or a knee-length skirt. If you forget to bring a covering, guards will provide you with a piece of fabric for that purpose before you enter. The prayer area is separated by gender. If you want to be super respectful follow Jewish custom by never turning your back on the wall.  You will see many people walking away from the wall backwards because it is simply disrespectful to turn away.
