This 9-day adventure begins in the cosmopolitan capital city of Helsinki located on the shores of the Gulf of Finland. Moving on we arrive in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, an amazing blend of the old and new. Next is Riga, the largest city in the three Baltic States and capital of Latvia founded in 1201. Our final stop is in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania whose very name originates with the Vilna River.

Day 1 Arrive in Helsinki
Upon arrival in Helsinki, the capital of Finland located on the shores of the Gulf of Finland.  You will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 2 in Helsinki
Explore Helsinki at your own pace with a hop-on, hop-off bus tour.  There are stops at the main attractions including the Lutheran Temppeliaukio also known as the Rock Church since it was built directly into solid rock. Completed in 1969 is located in the heart of Helsinki. Moving on we come to another famous attraction, the Sibelius Monument located in Sibelius Park which was dedicated to the famous composer Jean Sibelius. The monument resembles organ pipes and is made of welded steel with over 600 pipes. You will also see the Swedish theatre located at Esplanade Park. Its semi-circular walls date from an earlier theatre that was destroyed in 1863. (B)

Day 3 from Helsinki to Tallinn
Today make your own way to the harbor where you will board a ferry between the capitals of Finland and Estonia. Upon arrival, make your own way to the hotel. The rest of the day is free to start exploring on your own. (B)

Day 4 in Tallinn
The comprehensive Tallinn hop-on, hop-off bus tour enables you to plan your own sightseeing. Tallinn is an exciting blend of the old and new offering some 250 museums. Fifteen minutes away from the center of Helsinki brings us to the Open-Air Museum showcasing the country’s rural architecture and way of life. Comprised of 14 farms, you will get an idea as to how families from different parts of society lived in the 18th-20th centuries. The Old Town has preserved its structures and was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Our final stop will be at Toompea, a limestone hill stronghold which dates from the 10th century. Day 5 Tallinn to Riga
After breakfast, a private transfer takes you to Latvia’s capital Riga which was named the European Capital of Culture in 2014. The rest of the day is free. (B)

Day 6 in Riga
A hop-on, hop-off bus city bus tour lets you explore Riga at your own pace.  See such attractions and sites as the Latvian National Opera founded in 1912 by Pāvuls Jurjāns. See the Power Tower, once part of the town’s fortification system taking its name from the gunpowder that was once stored there. The tour ends with a visit to the island of Kipsala located on the left bank of the Daugava River connected to the city center and Pardaugava by the Shroud Bridge. (B)

Day 7 from Riga to Vilnius
This morning, a private transfer takes you to Vilnius, the capital and largest city in Lithuania.  A stop is made at the poignant Hill of Crosses, a monument with three crosses rising above a terraced viewpoint. The rest of the day is free. (B)

Day 8 in Vilnius
Discover Vilnius with a hop-on-hop-off minibus city tour. See sites such as Cathedral Square, the main square of the Old Town situated at the crossroads of the main streets in town. Next is St. Peter’s and Paul’s Church, one of the most beautiful Catholic churches in the world. Its dramatic all-white interior is endowed with over 2000 statues. Also included is the Gates of Dawn, a celebrated pilgrimage site in Lithuania where pilgrims wait to view the portrait of the Blessed Virgin Mary hidden within a small chapel inside. Many other sites will be included. (B)

Day 9 Depart from Vilnius
Your independent journey ends today as you are transferred to the Vilnius airport. (B)
